- Top 5 Best Shark Vacuum Reviews
When it comes to keeping your house clean, it’s tough to beat the combination of performance and efficiency you get from a Shark vacuum.
As an added bonus, Shark vacuums are also fairly affordable. Sure, they’re not the cheapest option at your disposal but they don’t have the eye-watering price tag of a Dyson or Miele either.
This manufacturer heavily promotes their products on TV and you’ve probably seen more than your fair share of these ads. Forget about the hype and focus on the reality: Shark produces a wide array of first-class vacuums suitable for most needs.
Which Shark Vacuum Is Best For Me?
There’s no right or wrong answer here. All you should be interested in is getting the right Shark vacuum for your own specific needs.
We’ve reviewed a selection of different styles so there should be something for everyone.
You need to think about which style of vacuum suits you best. We take a look at uprights that convert to canisters, a stick and a hand vac so you really have got plenty of options.
If you have a larger home, a more powerful upright would be sensible.
The lightweight stick makes a wise choice for anyone who struggles with bulky vacuums. It’s also a neat variety for anyone living in smaller apartments. Here, storage space is at a premium and perhaps you don’t need quite the cleaning power of someone with a huge house.
The other serious consideration is whether you want a corded or cordless model. We have explored this issue in some depth already here on our site.
In essence, a corded model offers superior suction and power but with the restriction of needing a constant power supply.
Cordless vacuums give you more scope but you’ll need to factor charging time into the equation. They also tend to be less powerful.
If you’ve had a careful think about your cleaning requirements, it’s time to see just what is the best Shark vacuum for you…
Top 5 Best Shark Vacuum Reviews
If you are on the trail of a super-powerful upright, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV356E Professional is very hard to beat.
Not only do you get the raw power of an upright, you can flick a button to detach a handy canister. If you need to clean up an unexpected spill or reach any awkward spots, this added flexibility is a complete winner.
Most homes these days have mixed flooring. Whether you need to clean bare floors or deep carpets, the Navigator is tailor-made.
The Navigator has Shark’s patented Never Loses Suction Technology and an innovative cyclonic design. Particles of dust are kept in motion not slung at the filter.
The filter is HEPA-rated. If you suffer from allergies or asthma, this is great news. Almost all allergens are kept safely tucked away thanks to Complete Seal Technology. Clean the filter every 2 or 3 months to keep things tip-top.
The Navigator is a neat mixture of power and portability. The whole unit weighs just under 14 pounds. The detachable canister is 7.5 pounds. The capable 10-amp motor gives you all the cleaning performance you need.
This vac is extremely maneuverable. Its lightweight nature for an upright combined with swivel steering make navigation super-simple.
Shark supplies a reasonable range of attachments with the Navigator. The crevice tool is ideal for any narrow spots. The pet brush makes light work of unwanted animal hair. There’s a Dust-Away attachment along with some micro-fiber pads to help your hard floors shine. A handy bag is thrown in so you can keep all your accessories safe and to hand.
Although it’s a corded model, this is a very generous 30 feet. This should be sufficient for cleaning even large spaces.
Bagless vacuums should be emptied frequently for best results. It’s ideal to do this every time you use it. With the Navigator, you’ll get a very substantial dust cup in case you need to clean very large spaces.
If you can accept it’s slightly unbalanced design and you want a multi-purpose vacuum that won’t let you down, think seriously about the Shark Navigator.

2. Shark Rotator Lift-Away Professional (NV501)
The Shark Rotator Lift-Away Professional is also referred to as the NV501.
Much like the Navigator, the Rotator is a hardworking upright which you can transform into a nifty canister by pressing a button. Whether you want to clean the stairs or under your furniture, the canister is a superb touch.
Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology means that all dust and debris remains trapped inside. With unsealed filters, some of these allergens can be belched back out through the exhaust. The HEPA filter works alongside 2 foam filters and makes the Rotator a must for anyone with allergies.
Although it tips the scales at 15.5 pounds, it’s very easy to move the Rotator around. It feels surprisingly lightweight and the swivel steering is superb.
Attachments are pared down. You’ll get a regulation crevice tool, dusting brush and pet power brush but that’s your lot. There’s a canister caddy for storing these tools.
The LED lights are outstanding if you need to clean up in any gloomy areas.
With the brush roll activated, the Rotator delivers a deep clean to most carpets. Flick this off and you can clean hard floors just as effectively. Since the majority of homes have mixed flooring, this is ideal. The last thing you want is a beater bar scratching your polished wood flooring.
The hose is long and flexible and you’ll get an extension wand that helps with any above-floor cleaning.
Like with all Shark vacuums, you’ll get a limited 5-year warranty. When a manufacturer backs their product like this it allows you to buy in complete confidence.

3. Shark Rocket Ultra-Light Upright (HV302)
Next up in our look at the best Shark vacuums is the Rocket Ultra-Light Upright.
The Rocket range has many slight variations. The HV302 is an extremely lightweight upright vac weighing less than 8 pounds. You can enjoy the capability of an upright without feeling the strain.
Multi-tasking is uppermost with Shark vacuums. You can perform the usual transformation from upright to canister in short order. The ultra-portable canister is just 3 pounds so you can carry it around with ease.
There’s a pet upholstery tool perfect for pet owners and the standard crevice tool and dusting brush combo to help you clean more than just your floors. There’s a storage hook which is great if space is at a premium.
The ergonomic fingertip controls allow to switch from cleaning carpets to hard floors without causing any damage. You’ll also get a dedicated hard floor attachment with a pair of micro-fiber pads thrown in.
If you want to take the canister outside to clean inside your car, you’ll get a bonus with the Rocket of a detailing kit. Make sure your vehicle looks as spotless as your house.
One drawback of this Rocket is that you don’t get HEPA filters. If you are sensitive to airborne allergens, you might want to reconsider.
The dust cup is fairly limited so if you are cleaning mainly carpets, you’ll need to empty this frequently. This is a small price to pay for the reduction in running costs you get with a bagless vacuum.
If you want the functionality of an upright and the flexibility of a canister without needing a heavy unit, the Rocket could well be the best Shark vacuum model for you. For powerful suction and floor-to-ceiling cleaning in one compact package, the NV302 makes a smart choice.

Shark is mainly known for producing powerful corded uprights. The SV1106 is something rather different. This cordless stick offers tremendous performance at a very keen price point.
While the suction and cleaning ability of a corded vacuum is not in question, their limitations mean they are not for everyone. Needing to be tethered to a power outlet is restrictive. With this cordless, you can move around in complete freedom.
Run time will extend from 10-12 minutes on carpet with just over 15 minutes on hard floors. The 14V battery will take anywhere from 4 to 7 hours until its fully charged.
The motorized brush roll along with top-class suction works wonders on your carpets. An opening in the center of the base helps with larger debris. As long as you don’t expect to work on really deep-pile carpet, you should be covered with the SV1006.
The Navigator also takes bare floors in its stride. Whether it’s small particles or larger debris, even stubborn pet hair, the Shark eats anything in its path.
Navigation is a cinch with the patented swivel steering. If you need to clean under stairs or in closets, the LED headlights guide you on your way.
You don’t need to keep bending down to switch on the Freestyle. A useful foot switch saves the day.
There’s no HEPA filtration but the mesh and foam filter combine to keep irritants away. Both of these filters are washable for cost-effectiveness.
The dust cup is substantial and a breeze to empty. You should ditch the dust every time you use your vacuum to keep it running optimally.
There is another model called the SV1106 N40 but this is only different in terms of its packaging. Don’t confuse them and think it’s a different version.
If you want the suction and overall cleaning power of an upright in the form of a cordless stick, the SV1106 is well worth popping on your shortlist.

5. Shark Cordless Pet Perfect II Hand Vac (SV780)
We’ll finish up our Shark vacuum reviews with a dinky hand vac very unlike other more conventional models in the range.
The design and performance of the SV780 mean that it’s not suitable as a primary vac. If, on the other hand, you want some added firepower in your fight cleaning stairs and upholstery, this hand vac makes perfect sense.
Very few hand vacs have a motorized brushroll. The SV780 does. This gives it the suction needed to deal with stray pet hair whether on carpet or bare flooring. The brush roll does not rotate or swivel so it can be rather taxing on your wrists.
The 18-V battery takes a staggering 16 hours to charge. Take this into account and think about whether this would disrupt your cleaning routine. These older style nickel-cadmium batteries are not the most efficient. If you run into any problems with the battery, it can be replaced. There’s a charging stand that’s easy to mount on the wall.
You’ll get just 3 attachments with a crevice tool, dusting brush and motorized brush. At this price, though, you can’t really complain.
The cyclonic action keeps dirt away from the opening of the filter. This means you won’t notice a dip in performance as the cup starts to fill.
If you want a secondary vacuum for dealing with sudden spills and keeping on top of pet hair, the SV780 is a great choice. Weighing just over 4 pounds yet punching far above its weight, this hand vac will not disappoint.
